PowerFit 500A vs 800A
Choose the right connection.

Compare current ratings, contact materials and cable terminations. Then match the connector to your equipment, installation and documented operating conditions.

Two ratings. Different assembly requirements.

PowerFit 500A and 800A are single-pole connector ranges with line source, line drain, panel source and panel drain formats. Current rating is the starting point. The cable termination, source or drain role, and exact product configuration also matter.

500A

Select the complete assembly. A connector's maximum rating does not, by itself, establish the allowable current of an installed cable assembly. Confirm the cable, termination, ambient conditions and duty with the project engineer and KUPO.

The differences that help you select

The values below come from the four 2026 V1 KUPO datasheets listed at the end of this guide. Line-termination details refer to the checked line-drain models; panel details refer to the checked panel-source models.

“Maximum” is the datasheets' wording. “mmsq” means square millimetres (mm²). Check the exact item datasheet for cable-gland fit, assembly instructions and dimensional requirements.

Four checks before specifying a connector

  1. Define the electrical requirement

    Provide the operating current, voltage, load profile and expected ambient temperature. For a requirement above the 500A maximum rating, evaluate the 800A range with KUPO. Suitability still depends on the complete assembly and operating conditions.

  2. Match the cable and termination

    Specify conductor cross-section and cable outside diameter. The checked 500A line drain uses a set-screw termination for 150mmsq cable; the checked 800A line drain uses a crimp termination for 400mmsq cable. Confirm the gland, bushing and assembly requirements for the ordered item.

  3. Choose the connection format

    Select line or panel mounting, then source or drain. Identify the mating connector and the required phase, neutral or protective-earth marking. Confirm the exact pair and mounting dimensions before ordering a replacement.

  4. Review evidence for the project

    Check the item datasheet, relevant certification scope and available test reports. For long operating periods, a warm enclosure or a different cable size, request a configuration review instead of extending a laboratory result to the new installation.

Measured performance, with the conditions attached

KUPO's supplied temperature-rise reports document a panel-source to line-drain assembly for each rating. Both reports record a three-hour test and a PASS assessment for their documented setup.

The assemblies, cable sizes and ambient temperatures differ. These tests do not establish a like-for-like thermal ranking, a derating curve, or an unlimited continuous-duty rating. The recorded test currents do not replace the datasheet ratings.

Start with the load, wherever the power is needed

Generator connections, event power distribution, industrial equipment and load-bank testing are application contexts for discussing a PowerFit installation. An application name alone does not decide between 500A and 800A.

What to confirm before you order

Is 500A only for short runs, and 800A for continuous operation?

No such split is established by the checked datasheets. They state 500A Maximum and 800A Maximum. Both supplied temperature-rise reports describe three-hour tests. Selection for prolonged operation requires a review of the actual assembly, load and environment.

Can PowerFit mate with P3 or ITT connectors?

Confirm the exact counterpart model with KUPO before specifying a mixed-brand connection. A similar appearance or nominal current rating is not sufficient evidence of compatibility. Request confirmation of mating geometry, keying, electrical ratings and the applicable certification scope.

What do the datasheets say about certification?

The checked 500A and 800A datasheets list TÜV and carry TÜV Rheinland certification marks. They also state CE, RoHS and REACH compliance. Request the applicable certificate and model coverage for your project. This guide does not make a UL product-certification claim: UL94-V0 is explicitly a body-material flammability rating.

Does IP67 apply to a disconnected connector?

The checked datasheets state “IP67 rating while mated.” Use that condition when specifying protection. Confirm the required protection arrangements for unmated connections with KUPO.

Can I use a different cable size or termination?

Check the exact ordered item with KUPO. This comparison covers a 150mmsq set-screw line drain and a 400mmsq crimp line drain. The test results apply to their documented assemblies and do not establish performance for other cable sizes.
