The tests use different assemblies, cable sizes and ambient temperatures. Read each result within its own test conditions.

Temperature and temperature rise

Temperature rise (ΔT) = measured temperature (T) − ambient temperature (Ta). For example, the 500A line drain conductor was measured at 91.8°C with an ambient temperature of 25.0°C, giving a rise of 66.8°C.

The charts below display the temperature-rise values in Section 08 of each report. They are measurement-point charts, not reconstructed temperature-versus-time curves.

Why the report records PASS

The report assesses the recorded temperature rises as within its cited IEC / BS EN 61984:2009 acceptance limits under these test conditions.

The highest measured temperature was 91.8°C at 25.0°C ambient, below the report’s listed 125°C maximum allowable temperature. The 125°C figure is an absolute temperature, not a temperature-rise limit.

PASS is the report’s assessment for this tested assembly and setup.

Why the report records PASS

The report assesses the recorded temperature rises as within its cited IEC / BS EN 61984:2009 acceptance limits under these test conditions.

The highest measured temperature was 70.3°C at 27.0°C ambient, below the report’s listed 125°C maximum allowable temperature. The 125°C figure is an absolute temperature, not a temperature-rise limit.

PASS is the report’s assessment for this tested assembly and setup.

Contact rise and insulating-head rise are separate measurements. The line drain insulating head records 43.3°C rise; the report’s maximum contact rise is 41.1°C.

Test scope and interpretation

What do the reported PASS results mean?

Both supplied reports state that temperature rise complies with their cited acceptance basis, written as “IEC EN61984:2009/ BS EN 61984 -2009”, under the specified test conditions. These are the reports’ stated assessments, not a new certification or a claim covering every PowerFit configuration.

How should the 125°C figure be read?

The evaluation summaries list 125°C as “Maximum Allowable Temperature.” It is not labelled as a 125°C temperature-rise limit. This page does not use it as a ΔT threshold or infer additional component-specific limits.

Can I compare 500A and 800A as equivalent test setups?

The 500A test uses 150mm² cable at 25.0°C ambient; the 800A test uses 400mm² cable at 27.0°C ambient. The connector assemblies and measurement-point sets also differ. The results do not establish a like-for-like ranking, a derating curve, or performance at other cable sizes or ambient temperatures.

Why are the original time curves not redrawn?

The supplied files contain curve images, but no numerical time-series dataset was provided. The 500A curve also has nine legend entries while Section 08 lists seven measurement points. This page therefore charts the tabulated values without estimating intermediate readings.
