Browse by Product Type

The generated Shopify data uses six product type names. These roll up into four electrical roles: inline male plugs, inline female connectors, panel/surface female receptacles, and panel male inlets. The names describe where the connector mounts and which side carries pins (male) versus sockets (female).

Product Type Products What It Is and Where It Goes Browse
Male Plug
(Inline Male)
25 A male plug mounts on the end of a cable and has male pins. It is the part you hold in your hand and push into a socket. Used on portable equipment power cords, extension leads, and cable assemblies. The plug connects into a female plug, surface female, panel female, or concealed inclined female product with matching ratings. Browse →
Female Plug
(Inline Female)
25 A female plug mounts on the end of a cable and has female sockets. It is the receiving end of a cable-to-cable connection and can also receive a panel-mounted appliance male inlet. Used on extension cables and portable distribution equipment. Browse →
Surface Female
(Fixed Female Socket)
20 A surface female socket mounts on a wall, enclosure, or distribution box and has female contacts. It provides a fixed outlet that receives a matching male plug. Browse →
Panel Female
(Fixed Female Socket)
21 A panel female socket mounts through a panel or enclosure and has female contacts. It is a fixed outlet for distribution boards, power boxes, and equipment panels. Browse →
Concealed Inclined Female
(Angled Fixed Socket)
15 A concealed inclined female socket is a recessed or angled fixed female outlet. It receives a matching male plug while keeping the connector body angled for panel layout and cable clearance. Browse →
Appliance Male
(Panel Male Inlet)
15 An appliance male inlet mounts permanently on a panel or enclosure and has male pins. It is the fixed connection point where power enters equipment. A female plug (inline female connector) connects to the inlet. Browse →

Simple rule: Male has pins and female has sockets. Male plugs and female plugs mount on cables. Surface female, panel female, concealed inclined female, and appliance male products mount on equipment, panels, walls, or enclosures. A male plug mates with a female socket; a female plug mates with an appliance male inlet.

IEC 60309 Color Code and Clock Position

IEC 60309 uses a color and clock position system to prevent cross-mating between incompatible voltage systems. The housing color identifies the voltage class, while the earth contact's clock position determines mechanical compatibility. KUPO's current CEE product data uses 6h clock-position keying across the listed blue and red connector range. A 6h plug will only fit a 6h socket with the same amperage and pole layout, preventing cross-voltage and cross-configuration connections.

KUPO CEE Voltage and Clock Position Reference

In IEC 60309, the clock position is determined by the combination of voltage and pole count, not voltage alone. Connectors with the same clock position but different pole counts are mechanically incompatible, preventing accidental cross-connection.

Voltage Poles Color Clock Amperage Available
220–250 V 3-Pole (2P+E) Blue / Black variants 6h 16 A, 32 A, 63 A, 125 A
380–415 V 4-Pole (3P+E) Red 6h 16 A, 32 A, 63 A, 125 A
220–415 V 5-Pole (3P+N+E) Red 6h 16 A, 32 A, 63 A, 125 A

Why 6h appears across multiple rows: 220–250 V 3-Pole products and red 4/5-Pole products can share the 6h clock position, but they cannot be cross-connected. The different number of pins physically prevents a 3-Pole plug from entering a 4-Pole or 5-Pole receptacle, and vice versa.

Two Protection Tiers: IP44 and IP67

KUPO CEE form connectors are available in two IP (Ingress Protection) ratings. The current product data includes 52 IP44 splash-proof products and 69 IP67 watertight products.

SKU Decoder

KUPO CEE form connectors use a structured K SKU pattern in the generated Shopify data. The digits identify the product type, amperage tier, pole count, and IP/product-series variant.

General pattern: K + [Product Type] + [Amperage Tier] + [Pole Count] + [IP / variant marker]
Example: K3252 = Panel Female (3), 32 A (2), 5-Pole (5), IP67 series (2)

In the current product set, a final 1 usually identifies the IP44 series and a final 2 usually identifies the IP67 series. Selected variants use base, A, -B, or A-B markers instead, so always confirm the exact SKU against the product data sheet before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the correct KUPO CEE connector?

Start with the electrical requirement, then choose the body style. Match amperage (16 A, 32 A, 63 A, or 125 A), voltage group (220–250 V, 380–415 V, or 220–415 V), pole count (2P+E, 3P+E, or 3P+N+E), clock position (6h in the current KUPO CEE data), IP rating (IP44 or IP67), and product type (male plug, female plug, surface female, panel female, concealed inclined female, or appliance male). Do not select by appearance alone.

Which product type do I need?

Use a Male Plug when the cable end needs male pins. Use a Female Plug when the cable end needs female sockets. Use a Surface Female for a fixed surface-mounted socket, a Panel Female for a fixed panel-mounted socket, and a Concealed Inclined Female for an angled fixed socket. Use an Appliance Male when equipment needs a fixed male power inlet. Male plugs mate with female socket styles; female plugs mate with appliance male inlets.

How do I choose between 3-Pole, 4-Pole, and 5-Pole?

3-Pole (2P+E) is for single-phase 220–250 V products. 4-Pole (3P+E) is for three-phase 380–415 V products without neutral. 5-Pole (3P+N+E) is for 220–415 V three-phase products with neutral. The current KUPO CEE range includes all three pole configurations across 16 A, 32 A, 63 A, and 125 A groups, so choose by the circuit design rather than by amperage alone.

What do the voltage color groups mean?

In the current KUPO CEE data, the 220–250 V group is the single-phase group and includes standard blue products plus selected all-black entertainment variants. The red 400 V-family group includes 380–415 V 4-pole products and 220–415 V 5-pole products. Color is a helpful visual cue, but the final check should always be the SKU data: voltage, amperage, pole count, IP rating, and 6h clock position.

What is the clock position and why does it matter?

The clock position describes where the earth contact sits on the connector face, like an hour on a clock. The current KUPO CEE product data uses 6h keying across the listed blue, black, and red groups. A connector still must match amperage, voltage class, pole count, IP rating requirement, and clock position before mating; a shared 6h clock position does not make different pole counts interchangeable.

What is the difference between IP44 and IP67?

IP44 is splash-proof protection and uses quick bayonet-style access for faster wiring. IP67 is dust-tight and watertight for harsher wet, dusty, or exposed environments, with screw-type coupling. The current product data includes 52 IP44 products and 69 IP67 products, so check the specific SKU rather than assuming one IP rating from amperage alone.

Can I use CEE connectors outdoors?

Yes, if the IP rating matches the environment. IP44 products are suitable for dry to moderately wet outdoor use when protected from standing water and sustained heavy rain. IP67 products are the stronger choice for fully exposed outdoor installations, wet or dusty sites, wash-down areas, and temporary event power where water exposure is more likely.

What are the all-black entertainment variants for?

The all-black variants are for stage, studio, and live event environments where low-visibility connectors are preferred. The current generated Shopify data lists four all-black products: K013-B, K013A-B, K213-B, and K213A-B. They are 16 A, 220–250 V, 3-Pole (2P+E), 6h, IP44 variants for compatible 6h CEE connections.

How do I read a KUPO CEE SKU?

The generated Shopify data uses a structured K-code pattern. The first digit after K identifies the product type: 0 = Male Plug, 1 = Surface Female, 2 = Female Plug, 3 = Panel Female, 4 = Concealed Inclined Female, and 6 = Appliance Male. The next digits identify amperage tier, pole count, and IP/product-series variant. For example, K3252 is a Panel Female, 32 A, 5-Pole, IP67-series product.

What cable or wire size should I check before ordering?

Check the SKU-specific product data sheet for accepted conductor cross-section, cable-entry dimensions, terminal size, and installation clearance. Across the available side-spec data, conductor accommodation ranges include 1–2.5 mm², 2.5–6 mm², 6–16 mm², 16–25 mm², and 16–50 mm², depending on the SKU. Do not assume one cable range applies to every product with the same amperage.

Are KUPO CEE connectors compatible with other IEC 60309 brands?

Yes, when the mating product follows the same IEC 60309 dimensional standard and the ratings match. Verify amperage, voltage class, pole count, clock position, IP rating requirement, and male/female body style before mating KUPO products with other IEC 60309 equipment.

What ratings must match before mating two CEE products?

Match the amperage rating, voltage class, pole configuration, clock position, IP rating requirement, and male/female body style. The current range is organized around 16 A, 32 A, 63 A, and 125 A options; 3-Pole, 4-Pole, and 5-Pole configurations; 230 V blue/black and 400 V-family red products; and a keyed 6h earth contact position.

Can I use a 16 A plug in a 32 A socket?

No. IEC 60309 uses different physical body sizes for different amperage ratings. A connector with a different current rating should not mate and should not be treated as interchangeable. Always match the amperage rating, voltage class, pole count, IP rating requirement, and clock position.

What test values are listed in the product data?

The product descriptions list AC 2500 V withstand voltage, 500 V DC 1 min insulation resistance > 5 MΩ, mechanical life ≥ 50,000 mating cycles with no load, salt spray resistance > 48 h with no rust, and low-temperature impact testing at −25 °C. Confirm the values on the SKU-specific data sheet before final specification.
